Front Door Handle: Service and Repair
Door Handle
1 Door handle
• Before removing, remove the lock cylinder=> [ Removing lock cylinder ] Front Door Handle and Door Lock or the door handle cover or trim => [ Trim, Removing ].
2 Clip
• When disassembling door handle - 1 -, unclip operating rod - 3 - here.
3 Operating rod
• Before removing door handle, disengage at clip - 2 -.
• After installing a new door lock, first replace operating rod in release lever slide - 4 - and engage catches - 5 -.
4 Release lever
• To engage operating rod- 3 - engage retainer in - direction of arrow -on release lever catches - 5 - => [ Engaging Operating Rod in Door Lock ].
5 Catches
• Release lever retainer must engage cleanly in catches.
6 Door lock
• Removal: => [ Door Lock ] Door Lock.
7 Hood catch
• Adjusting => [ Adjusting with Striker Pin ] Front Door, Adjusting
Engaging Operating Rod in Door Lock
- When installing a new door lock, clip operating rod - 1 - into release lever - 2 -.
- To release operating rod, fold retainer - 3 - down until it engages in release lever catch.
- When removing door lock, you must release retainer and engage in recesses on door lock - arrow -.
- Operating rod may only be clipped in in this position.
Remove the Door Lock Cover.
• Cover is only installed on side of door with lock

• Window frame removed.
• Release clamping pin from expanding rivet- 3 -and remove expanding rivet from door.
• Disconnect the door lock connector.
• Unclip cover from side of door.
• Pull cover downwards over connector on door lock.
3 Expanding rivet
Disengage Mount for Door Handle
- Door trim as well as window frame and window regulator removed.
- Insert screw driver- 2 -through door panel and disengage slide - 1 - from door handle in direction of - arrow -.
Trim, Removing
- To remove, pull door handle - 1 - up and release locking mechanism - 3 - with small screwdriver.
- Slide trim - 2 - forward slightly, disengage sides at top and remove from door handle.
- Installation occurs in reverse order.
Handle Trim Catch
- When installing, locking mechanism - arrow - on door handle - 2 - must engage in trim - 1 -.
