Front Door Rear Reinforcement
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A)
• Cutting blade, bent at right angle (V.A.G 1561/10)
• 1K adhesive (DH 009 100 03)
Removing
- Remove the handle recess cover - 3 -. Refer to => [ Handle Recess Cover ].
- Remove the rear door mount reinforcement - 1 -. Refer to => [ Rear Door Reinforcement ].
- Cut through the adhesive with a sharp knife.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Move the front door rear reinforcement - 2 - upward by its front edge.
- Remove the front door rear reinforcement.
• Be careful not to damage the outside door handle while removing the reinforcement.
Installation
Installation is reverse of removal, noting the following:
- Before installing, remove any locking compound still in the threaded holes using a thread cutter.
- Check the foam strips - 3 - for damage. Replace them if necessary.
- Use an electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A) or a cutting blade, bent at right angle (V.A.G 1561/10) to cut smooth any sealant residue still on the reinforcement. Do not remove all residue under any circumstances.
- Install the front door rear reinforcement - 1 -.
- There must not be any dirt or grease on the adhesive surfaces.
- Apply 1K adhesive (DH 009 100 03) - 2 - all around as illustrated.
