Tunnel Crossmember

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

Affects Vehicles with Air Suspension

- Place the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.

Affects All Vehicles

On vehicle equipped with a double-pipe exhaust system, remove the noise insulation and the left or right exhaust pipe.

- Remove noise insulation.

- Remove exhaust system.

- Support transmission with (V.A.G 1383 A) and a wooden block.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 3 -, and nuts - 2 -.






- Remove tunnel crossmember.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember and Dome Brace Assembly Overview ] Tunnel Crossmember and Dome Brace Assembly Overview.

- On vehicles with air suspension, position vehicle on wheels. Refer to => [ Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels ] Positioning Vehicle on Hoist and Wheels.
