Selector Mechanism







Selector Mechanism

Removing

- Remove the rear crossmember bolts - arrows - and crossmember.





- Remove the rear noise insulation by loosening the fasteners - 2 - and, if equipped the - arrow -.





- Remove the front crossmember bolts - arrows - and crossmember.





- Remove the driveshaft:

- Loosen the left and right floor panel covers on the inner side.





- Remove the heat shield - arrow -.

- Mark the installation position of the bracket for the selector lever cable.





- Press the selector lever cable ball joint - 1 - off from the selector shaft lever.

- Remove the bolts - arrow - for the selector lever cable bracket.

Take care not to bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Remove the front and rear center consoles.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 2 - and - 4 -.





- Remove the nut - 1, 3, 5 and 6 -.

A second technician is required when detaching the shift mechanism below the vehicle.

- Press the retaining tabs - arrows - inward and lower the selector mechanism downward.

Installing

Install in the reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Lightly grease the ball socket of the selector lever cable with polycarbamide grease (G 052 142 A2) before installing.

Take care not to bend or kink the selector lever cable.

- Install the selector lever bracket to the transmission according to the markings.

- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable Adjusting, from 12.05 ] Procedures.

- Check the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Checking ] Procedures.

- Install the driveshaft:

- Reconnect the exhaust system and ensure it is not under stress.

- Install the rear crossmember. Refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Tunnel Crossmember.

- Install the front crossmember.

- Install the front and rear center consoles.
