Selector Mechanism Assembly Overview

CAUTION!
Before work is done with the engine running, place the selector lever in the "P" position and press the parking brake button to engage the electromechanical parking brake.

Before disassembling the selector mechanism, perform a check. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Checking ] Procedures.





1 Selector lever handle

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview ] Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview.

2 Trim ring

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview ] Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview.

3 Selector lever boot

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview ] Selector Lever Handle and Range Position Display Assembly Overview.

4 Clamp

For securing the selector lever handle to the selector lever.

5 Selector lever Transmission Range (TR) position display (Y26)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Range Position Display ] Selector Lever Range Position Display.

6 Nut

10 Nm

For the selector mechanism to body

Quantity: 4

7 Rubber seal

8 Selector lever sensor system control module (J587) with Tiptronic switch (F189)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module with Tiptronic Switch ] Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module with Tiptronic Switch.

9 Selector mechanism

Can only be replaced as complete unit

10 Shift lock solenoid (N110)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Lock Solenoid ] Selector Lever Lock Solenoid.

11 Transmission park selector switch (F305)

Consists of two micro-switches on a plate on the shift lock solenoid (N110)

Can only be replaced together with the shift lock solenoid (N110). Refer to => [ Selector Lever Lock Solenoid ] Selector Lever Lock Solenoid.

12 Noise insulation

Different versions.

Not installed on all vehicles.

13 Lock washers

For noise insulation to the selector mechanism.

Quantity: 4

Replace

14 Retaining clip

Secures the selector lever cable on the selector mechanism.

15 O-ring

Replace

16 Selector lever cable

Do not bend or kink.
