Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm, Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)
Procedure
• There must be flow through the hose from the turbocharger wastegate bypass regulator valve (N75) to the vacuum diaphragm.
• Wastegate bypass regulator valve OK.
- Remove the engine cover - arrows -.
- Connect the (VAS 6213) to the vacuum diaphragm - arrow -.
- Move the sliding ring - 1 - on the hand vacuum pump to the "Pressure" position - arrow B -.
The vacuum diaphragm could be damaged.
• The pressure must not exceed 850 mbar.
- Activate the hand vacuum pump several times and watch the linkage - A -.
• The linkage must move at approximately 300 mbar.
• The linkage must be at the end position at approximately 800 mbar.
• The linkage list is approximately 13 mm.
• If pressure cannot be generated with the hand vacuum pump or the pressure decreases again immediately, check the hand vacuum pump and connecting hoses for leaks.
• Replace the vacuum diaphragm if no malfunction is found, refer to => [ Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm ] Turbocharger Vacuum Diaphragm.
