Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Support Arm Bearing Installation Tool (3346)
• Carrier Bearing Installation Tool (3350)
• Fitting Sleeve (3378)
• Carrier (3390)
• Torque Wrench 5-50 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Measure dimension from center of wheel to lower edge of wheel housing. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting To Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension.
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- If the vehicle has a vehicle level sensor, then remove the bolts - 2 -.
- Remove the bolt - arrow - from the lower transverse link - 1 -.
- Remove bolt - arrow - for tie rod - 3 - and remove washer - 4 -.
Pressing out bonded rubber bushing
- Install tools as shown in illustration.

- Remove bonded rubber bushing by turning spindle.
Pulling in bonded rubber bushing
- Install tools as shown in illustration.

- Install bonded rubber bushing by turning support arm bearing installation tool.
• Do not use lubricant!
• Insert bearing with care so it is not canted.
- Check the installed position after installing the bonded rubber bushing.
• Dimensions - A - and - B - must be the same (each measured, if applicable, at a spot where there is no seam/burr).
- Install the bonded rubber bushing again if dimensions - A - and - B - are different.
Use a commercially available 27 mm socket wrench in place of the (3378) to install the bonded rubber bushing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install bolt - arrow - for tie rod - 3 - with washer - 4 -.

Connections to wheel bearing housing may only be carried out of dimension between wheel hub center and lower edge of wheel housing, measured before assembly, is achieved => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting To Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension.
