On vehicles equipped with a fixed rear panel, the cable for the rear lid emergency release must first be disconnected and pulled out of the rear lid before the rear lid can be removed. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Lock Emergency Release ] Rear Lid Lock Emergency Release.

A second person is needed during removal and installation to support and hold the rear lid.

Removing

- Remove the rear lid trim panel.

- Disconnect electrical wires and remove from rear lid.

- On the rear lid side, only loosen the rear nut and remove both side nuts. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Hinge ] Rear Lid Hinge.

- Remove the rear lid.

Installing in reverse order

Adjusting:

- Adjust the front height and the position of the rear lid lengthwise using the hood hinge.

- Adjust the height at the rear above the rear lid lock.

- Align the rear lid so it is centered according to the gap dimensions. Refer to => [ Gap Dimensions ] Rear Lid, Adjusting.

- Adjusting buffer stops

6 Cover

Placed on the lid lock.

7 Rear Lid Lock

To remove, remove combi-bolts and disengage cable.

8 Rear Lid Lock Cover

Remove the lid trim before removing.

When installing, the cover must engage securely in the lid lock.

9 Nuts

21 Nm

10 Striker

Adjusting:

- Tighten combi-bolts, item 9 by hand (it must still be possible to slide striker).

- Carefully close the rear lid until it is flush with side panels.

- Carefully open lid and tighten bolts, item 9.

11 Nuts

21 Nm

Adjustment Buffer, Adjusting





- Close the rear lid.

If the lid is adjusted correctly, the stop buffers - 2 - must lightly contact the body when the lid is closed.

- The stop buffers can be loosened or tightened as needed to be flush.

- The buffers - 3 - must engage audibly when pressing them in and the hood trim - 1 - must be installed.

- Check the gap dimensions. Refer to => [ Gap Dimensions ] Rear Lid, Adjusting.
