A/C Unit and Air Intake Housing Components

There are different versions of the A/C system (for "Comfort" A/C system or the "Basis" A/C system etc.). Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

• There is a label - A - on the outside of the A/C unit with a part - B - that tells which version is installed. Refer to the Parts Catalog.






• The part number - B - on the decal - A - can be read when the CD changer is removed (depending on the vehicle equipment level).

• Heating & A/C unit, removing and installing, refer to => [ A/C Unit ] A/C Unit.

• On this vehicle, the different motors on the A/C are adapted and controlled over a data line. The different control motors are connected in sequence to the Climatronic control module (J255) display and control head via this data line (Lin bus). The sequence differs between the different A/C versions. Refer to => [ A/C Control Motor Block Diagram ] A/C Control Motor Block Diagram.

• From 01.2008, A/C units which have an additional connection for the glove compartment cooling are being installed. On vehicles without glove compartment cooling, this connection is sealed with a plug. • Depending on the production date, there are different versions of the levers and connections on the A/C unit. Refer to => [ Air Conditioner, Levers and Connecting Elements ] Air Conditioner, Levers and Connecting Elements and the Parts Catalog.

• Revised A/C units are being installed from MY 12 (use depends on the vehicle version) (A/C unit part number "8T_ 820 005"). With the introduction of these A/C units, other control motors are also being installed, which can be installed with both versions of the A/C units (interchanging is currently permitted). Refer to the Parts Catalog and the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
