Coolant Pump
Coolant Pump
1 Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ( Water Pump (V36) )
• Component location on 6 cylinder FSI vehicles, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)).
• For vehicles with 6 cylinders, depending on the vehicle version, may have a coolant pump (water pump ) installed in this location.
• Depending on the version of the Climatronic control module (J255) , coolant pump (V50) may be referred to as water pump (V36) in Guided Fault Finding. Refer to the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
• For vehicles with 8 FSI engine, the A/C compressor may be dismantled and removed from the mount only when the refrigerant circuit is open. The FSI engine currently does not have a coolant recirculation pump (introduction is still open).
• The coolant pump (water pump) versions and activation differ depending on the version of the vehicle and production period. From MY 12 beginning with start of production, pumps that were controlled by a 500 Hertz signal (500 pulses per second) are being replaced by pumps that are controlled by a 100 Hertz signal depending on the engine. Pumps, controlled by a 100 Hertz signal, also have a diagnostic function and are controlled by the engine control module. Check for the correct allocation; refer to the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" function, to the and to the Parts Catalog.
2 Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) ( Water Pump (V36) )
• Component location on vehicles with a 4-cylinder engine, refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)).
• The coolant recirculation pump (water pump ) is installed only on MY 10 vehicles equipped with the "Start/Stop System" but without an "auxiliary heater". Refer to => [ Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)) ] Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50) (Water Pump (V36)).
• Depending on the version of the Climatronic control module (J255) , coolant pump may be referred to as water pump in Guided Fault Finding. Refer to the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" function.

• The Coolant recirculation pump can be installed in different locations. It is located between the plenum chamber bulkhead and the engine on most 4 cylinder vehicles.
• The activation of the coolant recirculation pump varies. If the vehicle has a high voltage system (hybrid vehicles), then the Climatronic control module requests the activation via the engine control module. Refer to the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
