February 5, 2010.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 28 number 09-06 dated May 22, 2009 for reasons stated below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition

^ Intermittently, the key cannot be removed from the ignition switch after turning the ignition off.

^ No DTCs are stored.

Technical Background

^ After turning off the ignition, the key is only released from the switch after 200 ms. If the key is pulled immediately, it may be held in by the ignition switch.

^ The solenoid valve is not completely open.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

1. To release the key, another ignition cycle is necessary. (It is not necessary to start the engine.) Parts should not be replaced, and the switch operation should be explained to the customer.

2. If the key cannot be released and there are no other related complaints, replace the ignition switch. Once the ignition switch is removed, the key can be released as follows: Holding the switch in your right hand (looking at the key opening, part number pointing to the right), gently strike the switch housing against your left hand. The key will be released.
