Emergency Flasher Button Search Illumination

Additional Components

Comfort System Central Control Module (J393)

Headlamp Switch (E1)

Warning Light Button (E229)

Emergency Flasher Indicator Lamp (K6)

Function

When the emergency flashers are off, the emergency flasher indicator lamp (K6) is dimmed by the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) via a PWM signal, if terminal 58st is active.

The dimming function works as the search illumination in this case. The vehicle electrical system control module (J519) calculates the dimming value using an internal algorithm taken from the dimming value for terminal 58st.

When the emergency flashers are on, the emergency flasher indicator lamp (K6) is controlled by the vehicle electrical system control module (J519). The indicator lamp is controlled by a 100% PWM during the on phase. During the off phase, the PWM signal is 0%.

Activating the emergency flashers works as follows:

The condition of the emergency flasher button (E229) is evaluated by the vehicle electrical system control module (J519).

When the button is recognized as being on, then the information is sent to the comfort system central control module (J393) via the CAN Bus, which serves as the blink master. This then sends tells the emergency flasher indicator lamp (J519), via the CAN Bus, which frequency should be used to control the emergency flasher indicator lamp (K6).

The emergency flashers are automatically turned on by the comfort system central control module (J393) during emergency braking of if there a crash and airbag deploys and the blinking frequency information is sent to the vehicle electrical system control module (J519).
