Seat Pan with Seat Cushion Extension

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Special hook (3370)

The procedure description is based on a manual or power sport front seat and super sport seat.

Removing


Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove front seat:

Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ] Manual Standard Front Seats.

Power sport seat and super sport seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ] Power Standard Front Seats.

- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove the backrest.

Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

Power sport seat and super sport seat, refer to => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Remove the sill side trim retaining bracket.

Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Trim Retaining Bracket, Sill Side ] Trim Retaining Bracket, Sill Side.

Power sport seat and super sport seat, refer to => [ Trim Retaining Bracket, Sill Side ] Trim Retaining Bracket, Sill Side.

- Versions with LATCH (front passenger seat only): remove the LATCH anchor. Refer to => [ LATCH Child Seat Anchor ] LATCH Child Seat Anchor.

- Remove the seat cushion extension as far as the stop.





- Unclip the catches - 2 -.

- Tilt the support with the seat cushion extension upholstery and cover - 1 - up in the - direction of the arrow - far enough so the catches remain disengaged.

- Remove the support - 1 - with seat cushion extension upholstery and cover - 2 - up and forward at an angle.





The illustration does not show the seat pan lower frame.

- Disengage the tabs - 3 - from the openings - 5 - on the seat cushion extension lower section - 4 -.

- Unclip the clamping profile - 1 - and - 2 - for the cover and cushion - 4 - across and at the sides from the catches - 3 -.





- Disengage the cover clamping profiles - 3 - with the special hook (3370) on the side - A - of the seat pan upper frame.





- When disengaging the retaining channels, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 1 - on the edge - 2 -.

- Disengage both hooks - 1 - on the seat pan - 3 -.





LATCH child seat anchor - 2 - removed.

- Disengage the clamping profiles - 6 - on the cover using the special hook (3370) near - A -.

- When disengaging the cover, be careful of the exposed retaining hooks - 4 - on the edge - 5 -.

- Remove the cover and cushion from the seat pan while at the same time removing the seat heating wiring harness.

The seat cushion extension plastic support remains on the upholstery.

Installation


Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again. Refer to[ext-diag>^^[ext-diag]^^^^[/ext-diag>.
