Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor (V48)/(V49)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Protective Gloves
• Protective Eyewear
• Box Cutter
Note the information about contact corrosion, refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Service Precautions.
• Headlamps must be adjusted after performing measures that could influence headlamp adjustment. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting ] Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting.
Removing
- Remove headlamp housings, refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
• The headlamp housing must be cut at the designated location with a sharp box cutter to replace the headlamp range control positioning motor.
• A housing cover can be ordered to seal the assembly opening. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
There is a risk of injury and damage.
• Wear protective gloves and eyewear.
• To avoid damaged electrical wires in the headlamp housing, do not cut too deep.
- Cut the cover - 1 - out of the headlamp housing with a sharp box cutter.
• Remove any shavings and grit on the blind cover from the headlamp housing.
- Remove the housing cover - 2 - from the headlamp housing.
- Turn the height adjustment bolt all the way with the hex socket wrench - 3 - - arrow A -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 4 -.
- Reach through the opening in the headlamp housing and remove the adjustment motor - 2 - in the - direction of the arrow B - from the reflector.
- Remove the adjustment motor and disconnect the connector.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Halogen Headlamps Overview, from MY 2012 ] Halogen Headlamps Overview, From MY 2012.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Turn the housing cover - 1 - counter-clockwise - arrow - and remove it from the headlamp housing.
- When connecting the connector, install the adjustment motor.
• Counterhold the high beam/turn signal reflector through the opening when pressing the adjusting shaft ball head into the reflector ball head mount.
- Close the opening in the headlamp housing - 2 - with the housing cover - 1 - from the repair kit. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
- Tighten the bolts - arrows -.
- Close the housing cover.
- Install the headlamp housing, refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
