Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77)

Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77)

General Information

Vehicles with electronically-controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride) and/or gas discharge lamps have an automatic headlamp range control system as standard equipment.

In order to function, the electronic damping (Audi magnetic ride) and automatic headlamp range control require information about the compression or rebound travel on the front and rear axles.

For this, the position of the left/right transverse link in relation to the body is transferred via a coupling rod to left rear level control system sensor and right rear level control system sensor. These transmit electrical signals to the electronic damping control module (J250) and/or left/right high-intensity gas discharge lamp control module (J343/344).

At the front axle, these signals are transmitted from the left front level control system sensor (G78) and right front level control sensor (G289) to the electronic damping control module (J250) and/or the left/right high-intensity gas discharge lamp control module (J343/344).

These signals are required for determining vehicle level.

The headlamp range control responds automatically to changes in the vehicle level.

The vehicle level can change in the following situations:

Trailer Mode

Different load conditions; vehicle empty, vehicle partially or fully loaded

Program the control position on vehicles with electronically-controlled damping (Audi magnetic ride) and check the headlamp adjustment if

Assembly work was performed on level control system sensor

the lower transverse link was removed and installed,

Threaded connections - 2 - or - 3 - were loosened.

The level control system sensor is only available as a replacement part together with the connecting link and upper and lower mounting plates.

- If the vehicle has electronic damping (Audi Magnetic Ride), then program the control position.

Removing

- Disconnect the harness connector - 1 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2 - and - 3 -.

- Remove sensor.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Sensor left must face toward outside of vehicle.

- If the vehicle has electronic damping (Audi Magnetic Ride), then program the control position. Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.

- Perform a basic setting on the headlamps.
