Wheel Bearing Unit







Wheel Bearing Unit

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Removing

- Measure dimension from center of wheel to lower edge of wheel housing. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting To Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension.

- Remove the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.

- Remove drive axle => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle.

- Remove brake caliper/brake carrier and suspend from body with wire.

Do not allow brake caliper to hang from brake line.

- Remove the bolt and then remove the brake disc.

- Remove screws - 2 -.






- Remove wheel bearing unit from wheel bearing housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Bearing Unit, Trailing Arm with Bracket and Stone Chip Protection Overview ] Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Bearing Unit, Trailing Arm With Bracket and Stone Chip Protection Overview

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Overview ] Shock Absorber and Coil Spring Overview

Tightening specifications, refer to=> [ Stabilizer Bar Overview ] Stabilizer Bar Overview

- Tighten the new bolt.

First tighten the bolt to the given torque specification using the torque wrench.

Use a rigid wrench to apply additional torque angle.
