Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Clutch Oil Temperature Sensor
Removing
Proceed as follows:
Risk of transmission damage.
• Do not run engine or tow vehicle with oil pan removed or without transmission fluid.
• Observe general repair notes. Refer to => [ Repair Instructions ] Repair Instructions.
• Observe cleanliness rules when working on transmissions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
- Drain transmission fluid. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling.
- Remove oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] 02E Automatic Transmission.
- Remove direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743). Refer to => [ Mechatronic ] 02E Transmission.
- Remove bolt - B -.
- Remove transmission input speed (RPM) sensor (G182) and clutch oil temperature sensor (G509) - A - together with wire from transmission.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oil Pan, Mechatronic, and Transmission Oil Pump Assembly Overview ] Description and Operation, => [ and ] Description and Operation
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Coat transmission input speed (RPM) sensor (G182) and clutch oil temperature sensor (G509) with gear oil.
- Insert transmission input speed (RPM) sensor (G182) and clutch oil temperature sensor (G509) in side opening on transmission and tighten => [ and ] Description and Operation
- Install direct shift gearbox (DSG) mechatronic (J743). Refer to => [ Mechatronic ] 02E Transmission.
- Install oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] 02E Automatic Transmission.
- Top off transmission oil. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling and check oil level => [ Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling ] Transmission Fluid, Changing and Filling.
- Connect vehicle diagnosis, testing, and information system (VAS 5051B).
