Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module

- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051).

Removing

- Disconnect battery ground wire.

- Observe airbag system safety precautions.

- Remove the steering wheel.

- Remove steering column switch module.

- Remove bolt - arrow - (2 Nm) below spiral spring.





The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) is secure to steering column module with two spring retainers.

- Release springs - 1 - and - 2 - with a small screwdriver.





- Remove steering column electronic systems control module downward from steering column module.

Installing

- Observe airbag system safety precautions.

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Make sure that all connections have engaged and lines lie in proper guides.
