SUBJECT: Leaky Valve Cover Gaskets
ENGINES: All BMW M 10, M 20 and M 30
Complaint: ^ Whistling noise
^ Erratic engine idling (CO level cannot be adjusted)
^ Insufficient engine power output
^ High fuel consumption
^ High oil consumption
Cause: Valve cover gasket could be pulled into valve train area.
Correction: Replace gasket (only use gasket with metal reinforcement).

Status: Vehicle repair: reimbursement per chassis number
Use Special Defect Code: 00 00 11 62 00

Status: Submit a collective warranty claim for gaskets removed from your inventory.
