Radio/Stereo - Loss of Pre-programming Memory

SUBJECT: Loss of Pre-programmed Station Memory or
Erroneous Digital Displays

MODELS: All 1984/1985 with ASI Radios

Complaint: 1. Pre-programmed station memory is lost when radio is turned ON after having been previously programmed.

2. Erroneous digital display appears when radio is turned ON.

Cause: Battery voltage below approximately 5 volts or battery is disconnected during electrical repairs.

Correction: - Turn ignition and radio ON.

- Withdraw fuse 21 (fuse 5 on Series 5 cars) from fuse box.


- Reinstall fuse 21 (fuse 5 on Series 5 cars) into fuse box.

- Re-program station memory (also On-board computer, if applicable).


- Turn ignition OFF and ON and recheck for loss of memory.
