SUBJECT:

SITUATION:
The MoDiC in its current configuration will not perform diagnostics on cars equipped with OBD II systems (On Board Diagnostics). In particular, it will not diagnose DME, EML and EGS.

SOLUTION:
A MoDiC replacement cable has been developed which will allow MoDiC diagnosis and programming on both OBD II equipped and earlier production vehicles. This cable will be sent out via the Automatic Tool Shipment Program.

Replacement MoDiC Cable
P/N 81 12 9 428 912
Introductory Price = $101.95

Please read the cable replacement instructions before you change the cable.

The new style cord may be easily recognized because of its utilization of 7 pins instead of 6 pins at the diagnostic connector.

MODIC REPLACEMENT CABLE INSTRUCTIONS - CABLE REMOVAL

1. Unscrew the 4 battery cover screws and remove the cover.

2. Loosen (but do not remove) the remaining 5 rear cover screws.

3. Unscrew and remove the strain relief on the Diagnostic Cable.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to drop the tiny washers into the MoDiC!

4. Unplug the blue 2 pin connector (power lead from the battery).

5. Unplug the green diagnostic connector and carefully remove cable.

CABLE REPLACEMENT

Reverse the above procedure.

Note:
Please be careful when plugging in the green connector (on the diagnostic cord). Do not force it. If it will not go on easily, it is not aligned properly.
