Information: To be effective when used in today's engines, engine oils must meet extremely high standards. A high performance oil provides much more than mere lubrication, for example:
^ excellent thermal, pressure and viscosity stability to prevent premature oil breakdown, which, in turn, causes premature wear on cylinder walls and piston rings, power loss and high oil consumption.
^ friction reduction for saving fuel.
^ limited oil contamination, dilution, oil sludge and combustion deposits on pistons and inside the combustion chamber.
^ corrosion and rust inhibition.
^ limited evaporation and anti-foaming capabilities.
^ easy starting and good circulation during cold starts and warm-up.
BMW of North America is proud to introduce its new private label BMW High Performance Engine Oil, which is exclusively formulated for BMW and which exceeds existing international quality specifications (SAE/CCMC) for motor oils.
The BMW High Performance Engine Oil is an alternative to other commercially available oils which you may have been using.
We encourage its use by dealers and customers.
Note: In cases of oil consumption complaint verification (See S1 11 05 84 (888), we strongly recommend conducting these tests with BMW High Performance Engine Oil.
For temperature-related applications, refer to the valid BMW Temperature viscosity Table (see Operating Fluids Specifications Binder, S.I. 11 15 87 (939)) and Owner's Manual (Handbook).
The 20W-50 oil is not to be used in Diesel engines.
