SUBJECT: Brake Pads
MODELS: All as noted
Situation: BMW has introduced a new brake pad which combines the benefits of increased pad life, less brake dust, and reduced noise. This pad was introduced beginning with (approximately) 1/87 production on the E24 and E28, 1/88 on the E30 and 4/89 on the E34.
These pads will be available in repair sets for the following models:
3 Series (E30) except 318i and M3 5 Series (E28 and E34) except M5 6 Series (E24) produced after 9/82, except M6 7 Series (E32) except 75OiL
NOTE: Different brands or types of brake pads have chemical compositions of friction materials which can cause variations in braking characteristics. Therefore it is essential that different brands or types of brake pads are not mixed on a vehicle.
If a replacement of a partial set of pads is required, the replacement pads must be of the same brand and type as the pads currently on the vehicle.
