GEARSHIFT LEVER BOOT - 1982 32Oi and 528e

A new and improved gearshift lever boot will be installed in 1982 production 320i and 528e model vehicles. The new version boot has an integrated plastic frame and will be clipped on to the center console.

To remove the boot, first remove the gearshift lever knob as shown in Technical Reference information Bulletin 25 01 81 (2000). Grasp the boot below the plastic frame and pull it upward quickly. Do not use sharp edged tools such as a screwdriver as this may damage the boot.

To reinstall the boot, clip the plastic frame to the center console.
