SUBJECT: "Extended" Seat Rails

MODELS: E32 and E34

Situation: The parts microfiche show standard as well as "extended" seat rails for the 5 and 7 Series vehicles. The "extended" seat rails are an accessory that has been made available for cases where a customer with long legs would like some extra seat travel.

The customer should be advised of the following before ordering these parts:

- The overall seat rail travel is not extended, but is merely relocated 25 mm to the rear. Therefore, installation of these rails may present a problem if the vehicle is also driven by a shorter driver.

- The rails only affect the front to rear adjustment; there is no gain in headroom.

- Installation of "extended" seat rails will not be covered under warranty, and is considered an aftermarket accessory purchased by the customer.
