Engine: Service and Repair

Prior to disconnecting fuel lines, disconnect master relay and carefully depressurize fuel system.




1. Remove transmission, then the radiator and expansion tank.
2. Remove both air cleaners, then loosen oil filter cover screw and drain engine oil into a suitable container.
3. Disconnect oil cooler lines on filter, then disconnect oil pressure switch.
4. Drain washer fluid tank, then disconnect fluid level sender and remove tank.
5. Remove injection pipe cover, then the cover holder.
6. Remove wire harness retaining straps, then the wire harness.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors necessary to facilitate removal of engine.
8. Disconnect temperatures sensor, then the intake air collector.
9. Disconnect alternator leads.
10. Loosen a/c compressor attaching bolts, then remove drive belt and position aside.
11. Remove oil filter body, then fuel feed and return pipes.
12. Disconnect heater hoses and coolant hoses, then the vacuum hoses from charcoal canister.
13. Remove pipe for ride control on oil pan, then loosen right and left engine mounts on front axle carrier.
14. Remove left and right exhaust pipes.
15. Attach a suitable lifting device to engine, then remove.
16. Reverse procedure to install.
