Interior Lighting Module: Description and Operation

Interior Lights (IB/ZKE):

Notes:

These instructions apply only if a ZKE general module is installed.:

Functional Description:

General Block Diagram:

Operating Principle:

With the interior light switch, the interior lights (interior lighting. IB) can be switched to "constant light", OFF or "automatic mode" (controlled by general module). In automatic mode, the switch-on time is influenced by door contacts, ignition lock position, central locking system and door handle.

The general module of the central body electronics (ZKE) controls the interior lights via a relay in the relay module (RM). The relay switches ground to the interior light switch. Ground is switched through to the lights when the switch is in "automatic interior light" position. The relay itself is switched by the general module irrespective of the position of the interior light switch.

Switch-On Times:

- 1. Door open: Interior light switched on for up to 16 minutes.
- 2. Opening and closing driver's door: After closing the door, the interior light continues to light for approx. 20 seconds but switches off as of ignition lock position 1 (terminal R).
- 3. Opening and closing driver's door, locking vehicle: The interior light switches oft as the vehicle is locked.
- 4. Switching off the ignition when parking light was switched on: Interior light remains switched on for up to 20 seconds.

- only if door lock heating is installed -

- 5. lifting door handle: Interior light is switched on for approx. 10 seconds (maximum of three times within 10 minutes).

When the door is left open, the interior light is switched oft after approx. 16 minutes in order to safe the battery. The light is switched on again after closing and opening the door.
