Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVING AND INStALLING OR REPLACING ALTERNATOR (M 70)

Disconnect battery ground lead.

Remove air cleaner together with air volume meter.

Remove radiator.




Unscrew bolt and nut.

Remove ribbed drive belt and tensioning element.




Installation:
Turn tensioning lever (1) as far as stop on the bolt.

Tighten bolts and nut.




Unscrew bolts.

Tilt the alternator forwards.




Unscrew D+ and B+ wires.

Installation:
Tightening Torque = D+ (7 Nm) / B+ (13 Nm)

Remove alternator upwards
