Major Changes From IHKR2

IHKR/F3 MAJOR CHANGES FROM IHKR2












From a control standpoint, IHKR/F3, as introduced in 1992, is almost identical to the IHKR2 system it replaced. The most significant differences are:
- The housing is modified to accommodate a microfilter.
- The filter slides into an opening in the right side of the housing, just behind the control module location.
- Beginning with 1994 MY, the mixing potentiometer and mixing flap stepper motor are replaced by a bowden cable mechanism.
- Also beginning with 1994 MY, the A/C compressor control system introduced on the 1991 525i (M50) is used with all engines installed in E34 vehicles.
