Troubleshooting Notes - IHKA (Automatic Climate Control system)

^ Troubleshoot with BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM or equivalent scan tool.
^ Battery charged, U-min = 12V
^ Fuses protecting the function of the IHKA must be in working order
^ The suitable adapter must be used for testing and the IHKA must be connected such that it is fully operable. A connector which must be unplugged to facilitate testing must be specified as such in the test schedule. Defect codes are stored by the control unit when disconnecting components and during testing. The defect codes stored prior to testing must therefore be printed out.
^ Inputs (E) not stored in the defect code memory of the IHKA control unit:
Buttons (matrix circuit), terminal 50, terminal 15, terminal 30, vehicle speed signal, diagnostic link RxD.
^ Outputs (A) not stored in the defect code memory of the IHKA control unit:
LEDs for function lights, blower control voltage, buttons (matrix circuit), diagnostic link TxD.
^ In order to achieve a uniform output status when monitoring and storing the defect codes, the IHKA must be switched on with the air flow control wheel. If, despite the IHKA being switched on, the air flow control wheel displays control wheels "OFF" in the D Status list (function lights of program buttons do not light), check the power supply from the control unit to the control wheel potentiometers in the operating unit.
