Return: The tester printouts (DME & EMW must be enclosed with the returning EML control unit and shipped to the W.P.R.C. without delay when the claim is paid.

These components are special and should be shipped separately to the W.P.R.C. The D.C.S. can generate a single packing slip for these special shipments.

Information: Early EML Control Unit P/N 12 71 1 725 390 E30 software for use with DME hardware number 1 718 519.

Late EML Control Unit P/N 12 71 1 725 389 C30 software for use with DME hardware numbers 1 725 694 or 1 729 708.

Service Action Label

Instructions: This Service Action has been assigned code number(s) 22 (and 33 if applicable). After the prescribed work has been performed, obtain a label (SD 89-003) and

a) Emboss your BMW dealer warranty number in the middle of the label.

b) Punch out code number 22 if only the EML control unit was replaced.

c) Punch out code numbers 22 and 33 if only the EML control unit and the

PWG/DK components were replaced.

d) Punch out code number 33 if only the DK motors and the PWG components were replaced.


e) Bend label to crease an edge and remove the backing paper. Then affix it to the "B" pillar (on driver's front door) as shown.
If the car affected-already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix this new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched out hole of the new label.
