Throttle Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

THROTTLE POTENTIOMETER (VEHICLES WITHOUT EML)





Check the throttle potentiometer with the aid of the status monitoring function in the MoDiC or equivalent tester. If value shown on tester display are not plausible, using universal adapter with control unit disconnected and ignition switched "Off", check resistances at full load and idle switch.

The Pins 4, 5 and 6 of the throttle potentiometer are only connected to the Digital Motor Electronic (DME) control unit and not to the Electronic Transmission Control (EGS) control unit.

If values deviate, disconnect throttle potentiometer and check. If OK., repair wires and plug connections. Otherwise replace throttle potentiometer.
