This Service Information Bulletin supersedes S.I. 11 08 89 (1877) dated May 1989. It advises that exchange crankshaft bearing color classifications also apply to the M70 (V12) engine.
Please remove and discard S.I. 11 08 89 (1877) dated May 1989 from your S.I. binder.
SUBJECT: Exchange Crankshaft Kits
ENGINES: M20 and M70
Situation: Future exchange crankshafts will be supplied with the following bearing shells:
^ Upper main bearings (crankcase) will be supplied in yellow only. See item # 1 in drawing on page 2.
^ Lower main bearings (main cap) correspond to crankshaft journal triple classification: yellow, green or white. See item # 2 in drawing.
^ Connecting rod bearings, both upper and lower, will be supplied in red only. See items # 3 and # 4 in drawing.
These crankshaft and bearing shell combinations can be used with all M20 and M70 engines.
Note: Refer to S.I. 11 07 89 (1876) for additional M20 crankshaft bearing information.
