A/T - ZF3HP22 Rear Sprag Assembly Inspection and Re-Use

SUBJECT: (BMW's & Peugeots) ZF3HP22

REGARDING:
Re-use of rear planetary and sprag assembly

When re-using the rear planetary and sprag assembly, the following checks must be made:

FIRST:
Check the side clearance on the pinion gears. If any pinions have more than .025" side clearance, they should be replaced.

SECOND:
Check the brass colored plate over the sprag unit on the planetary. Place a straight edge across this plate, and check for an outward bow toward the center. If this area is raised more than .025" the assembly must be replaced.

CAUTION
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OVERHAUL THIS SPRAG ASSEMBLY! IT IS NOT RE-BUILDABLE WITHOUT USING SPECIAL EQUIPMENT!
