SUBJECT: Rust in Windshield or Rear Window Opening

MODELS: M3, 5 Series (E34), 7 Series (E32)

Situation: Evidence of rust has been noted in the windshield or rear window opening on vehicles where the glass had been replaced. This rust has been traced to damage done to the paint while removing the old glass and/or excessive adhesive.

It is absolutely essential to repair any paintwork damage in the window openings caused by the knife blade or other tools. Touch-up should be with both primer and final color paints, and must be done prior to gluing in the new glass to ensure a good seal under the glue.
