Repair of Refrigerant Leaks




- If you find a leak, recover any refrigerant in the system before repairing the leak.
- When disconnecting the hoses and lines, use two open-end wrenches to prevent the hoses and line fittings from twisting and becoming damaged.
- Cap the system's connections as soon as they are opened.
- Always install a new "O"-ring when reassembling a connection. "O"-rings should not be reused, since they deform once compressed and may leak.
- Before connecting any hoses or lines, apply new refrigerant oil to the "O"-rings.
- When reconnecting the lines, position the "O"-ring close to the raised portion on the refrigerant line.
- Insert the nut onto the union and tighten by hand as much as possible.
- Use a back-up wrench and put the torque wrench on the fitting being tightened.












- When reconnecting a refrigerant line to a block joint, securely insert the projecting portion of the line into the connecting hole on the block joint before tightening the fitting (as shown on the right).
