Description of On-Board Diagnostic System

Notes on the BMW DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM:

Switch on ignition for diagnostic procedure. On entry in the program the following overview appears:

*D* Status lists:

The contents of the status lists include input and output status monitoring and comparison with the actual vehicle status.

*D* Activate components:

The task of this section of the program is to check the components of the on-board computer system (LEDs, gong, antitheft horn etc.)

*D* Defect code table:

The message "no defect codes stored" or a list of the stored defect codes appears. After reconnecting the battery and switching on the ignition, the on-board
computer requires approx. 1 minute to detect any defects.

*D* Clear defect code memory:

The on-board computer program sequence includes automatic return to the general overview after the defect code memory has been cleared.

- Battery charged, U-min = 12 V
- When monitoring the status lists, a waiting time of 1-2 seconds must be taken into account for actions at the vehicle to be shown on the display screen.
