Rear


Replacing left or right wheel bearing on rear axle shaft

Removing and installing output shaft, refer to Axle Shaft Assembly, Constant Velocity Type.
Removing and installing brake disk, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
Removing and installing brake drum, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.





Secure special tool 33 2 116 to drive flange with wheel studs.
Drive out drive flange with special tool 33 4 201/202/203.





If applicable, pull off bearing inner race using special tool 00 7 500 and a thrust piece.

Note: Refer also to Removing Wheel Bearing Inner Race From Hub.





Installation:
Pull in drive flange using special tool 33 4 041/042/043/045/048.





Remove circlip.

Installation:
Replace stretched or damaged circlip.
Ensure correct seating.





Pull out angular contact ball bearing using special tool 33 4 031/041/042f 043/045.

Caution: Do not reuse the old angular contact ball bearing.





Pull in new angular contact ball bearing (1) with special tool 33 4 041/042/043/047.
Inner bearing race 042 mm use special tool 33 4 049
Inner bearing race 0 39 mm use special tool 33 4 046.
