Replacing Magnetic Coupling For Compressor (For Nippondenso Compressors)

If necessary, remove underbody protection.
Remove the drive belt.







Grip drive plate with special tool 64 5 090, unfasten screw (1) and remove drive plate.







Installation:
Ensure correct clearance A (0.5....... 0.8 mm) between drive plate and pulley. If necessary, adjust by installing shims.







Only M51:

Installation:
Unfasten right oil cooler and fold down.
Secure magnetic measuring block to stabilizer and secure with cable clip to prevent twisting.







Only M51:
Connect special tool 61 2 070 (adapter cable) to battery plus and ground. Connect special tool 61 1 467 (adapter cable) to the magnetic coupling. Supply magnetic coupling with power via special tool 61 1 476 (safety cable) and read off pointer reading on dial gauge when doing so. Adjust clearance (0.5... 0.8 mm) between drive plate and pulley using shims if necessary.







Spread and remove circlip.

Installation:
Note position of circlip.
The bevelled side must point outwards.







Remove belt pulley.







Spread and remove circlip.
Release screw (1), disconnect plug-in connection (2) and remove solenoid coil.

Note position of circlip.
The bevelled side must point outwards.
