Throttle Position Signal (DKV)

Throttle Position Signal (DKV)

Vehicles with Bosch EML and 4HP 24 transmission (E32 750iL/850i):

The throttle/load signal is provided by the EML control unit. This signal is a processed signal produced by EML based on the pedal position sensor input (request for throttle opening).

The DKV is a modulated voltage signal with a fixed frequency and variable duty cycle. The duty cycle is proportional to the position of the pedal.

Non EML Vehicles without CAN:

The DKV signal is provided by the DME control module. It is a processed signal based on the throttle potentiometer input signal to DME (throttle opening position).

The DKV throttle input to the EGS control module pulses at a fixed frequency, with varied duty cycle indicating the position of the throttle. This represents the load request of the engine by the driver.

NOTE: Later model vehicles equipped with CAN bus do not require a dedicated throttle position signal wire since the throttle position is provided via CAN bus.
