Dismantling and assembling vane pump (LuK/Vickers pump)

- Pump removed
- Absolute cleanliness is essential when working on power-steering pump.
Remove pulley.





Clamp vane pump in vise with pulley flange.
Mark components relative to one another.
1 Holder
2 Bush
3 Rear case section
4 Front case section
5 Holder





Unfasten screws.
Remove case half (3) with spring (6) and valve spool (7).





Remove pressure plate (8) with rotor ring (9) and cylinder pins (10).





Unclip retaining ring (11).
Remove vane blades (12) and O-ring (13).





Remove rotor (14) and pressure plate (15).





Remove front case section from the shaft.
Pry out radial shaft seal (16).

Thoroughly clean all parts.
Coat new O-rings with hydraulic fluid prior to installation.





Fill new radial shaft seal between dust and sealing lip with grease.
Drive radial shaft seal (16) firmly home in case section open side facing inwards - with special tool 32 1 140 /240.





Fit bracket (5) and case section (4) on shaft.
Clamp pulley flange in vise.





Install new O-rings (13 and 17).





Install pressure plate (15) with groove facing upwards and cylindrical pins (10).





Fit rotor (14) to shaft and install new retaining ring (11).
Install all blades (12) with rounded side facing outwards.
Check that impeller moves easily.





Fit rotor ring (9) and pressure plate (8) to cylindrical pin (10).





Install new O-rings (18).





Fit valve piston (7) and spring (6) and join together the case sections.

Note: Note installation location of bore (B).





Fit washers (S) and tighten screws down to Tightening Torque = 30 Nm.
After installation, check function of vane pump, refer to Testing and Inspection.
