SUBJECT:
Programming of Engine Control Module with P16.0

MODEL:
ALL

Situation:
Not able to successfully reprogram Engine Control Modules (ECM/DME) using 16.0.

Correction:
Do not use P16 programming for any ECM/DME programming operation other than M3, M roadster and M coupe with manual transmission for rough running complaints on cold start-up (refer to S.I. 12 02 99).

Recommendation:
Continue to use 15.1.1 on DIS. Use CD 16.0 on at least one MODIC.

(Discharged MODIC buffer batteries can be recharged on MODICS which have CD V.16.0 loaded. If you reload 15.1.1 in a MODIC which had 16.0 loaded, you must reload the diagnostic head software).
