Introduced with the E46, the A5S 360R provides the 3 series line of vehicles with a 5 speed transmission.

The new GS 20 control system is designed and manufactured via a joint effort with BMW, Siemens and GM.

System Features:
- Torque rating of 360Nm.
- Gradual torque converter lock up providing a controlled degree of clutch slippage and smooth transition to full lock. Torque converter variable lock up control can occur in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears.
- AGS shift program logic
- 134 pin SKE control module
- Adaptive Hydraulic Pressure Control
- Reverse Lock out Function
- Shift solenoid control (all freewheel shifts).
- Shift lock solenoid control
- Downshift Inhibit control
- Failsafe Operation (Emergency Program)
- CAN communication with all drivetrain control modules and the instrument cluster. This feature reduces individual signal circuits dramatically and improves improves reliability.
- DIS/MoDiC communication for Diagnosis and Programming.
