Operation (SMB Entrance Aid, Passenger)
Operation
Manual adjustment of drives
The adjustment switches in the switch block are used for adjusting the seat manually. The adjustment switches are located on the sides of the seats facing the door.
The following drives can be operated with these switches:
- Fore/aft drive
- Seat height drive
- Seat inclination drive
- Backrest angle adjustment drive
- Head restraint drive
Easy Entry
To facilitate entry in the front area, with the aid of an additional switch (Easy Entry) on the top of the backrest, the easy entry facility (cabriolet only) initiates adjustment of the seat slide in longitudinal direction. For this purpose the seat forward/backward adjustment drive is activated in the second speed stage. The front most position of the seat is identical to that in the electrical adjustment range. The return position is the position the seat was in before activation or the rear most position.
The return position is always stored when the seat forward and backward adjustment switch is released. The seat position cannot be stored with the easy entry switch.
The easy entry switch has the same status as the seat adjustment switches and can therefore interrupt motor operation at any time.
Triggering of the easy entry facility is controlled by means of two additional signals that are generated via the easy entry switch. Adjustment, however, is only possible under the following vehicle conditions:
- Door open
- Vehicle stationary
The door contact and speedometer A signals required for this purpose are transmitted via the K-bus.
The head restraint moves down when operating the backrest lock lever. This operation is triggered by means of a backrest lock contact fitted in the seat.
Front Passenger's Seat Coding
To ensure the K-bus can differentiate between the driver's and front passenger's seat memory control module (easy entry), the front passenger coding input is applied to ground or left open via the seat wiring harness.
- Pin 13 input connected to ground - front passenger's seat control module
- Pin 13 input open - driver's seat control module
Detection of end stops
Automatic detection of the adjustment range limits is provided to avoid unnecessary load on the drives.
Should a block be detected several times in the same position, the detected position value is interpreted as the end stop. Any further adjustment is terminated before this limit is reached.
An incorrectly detected limit stop (e.g. due to the seat blocking on objects) can be reset, after the obstruction is removed, by pressing the manual adjustment switch once more.
