E46 with M54B25; 325i vehicles up to 03/2003: Cold start driveablity complaints.

Complaint
Customer may complain of an intermittent, cold start related situations. These are rarely reproducible in the workshop:

1. Intermittent engine speed fluctuation when coasting down to a stop, after a cold start.

2. Intermittent start/stall condition after vehicle was not driven for few weeks.

3. Start/stall condition and rough running in the first 60 seconds of engine operation, during bi-annual change to winter/summer (oxygenated) fuels.

4. Rough engine running during the first two minutes after cold start. No faults are stored in DME control module.

Cause
DME software calibration.

Measure
In case of a verified complaint contact Technical Hotline - Drivetrain for a contact number. After the approval/contact number was obtained from Technical Hotline, ship (using Fed-Ex only) the DME control module for reprogramming to:

The improved DME software is planned for service introduction with DIS CD 37.0.
