Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair


Remove/Replacing Rear Left Or Right Coil Spring
Remove Wheel.

Remove output shaft from final drive.

Detach panel from fuel tank in rear area.

Remove stabilizer bar from rear axle carrier on corresponding side.





Detach bracket for brake hose on trailing arm.

Caution: The brake hose must not be exposed to traction loads.





Support trailing arm with a lifter (1).

Release bolt and lower lift.

Installation:
Thrust washer (2) on rubber mount must point to screw head.
Tightening torque, refer to 33 52 1AZ.





Press wheel suspension down and pull coil spring out to one side.

Installation:
Check spring pads at top (1) and bottom (2) for damage, replace if necessary.

Press spring pad at bottom into control arm.

Preinstall top spring pad in spring.

Place spring on spring pad installed in control arm and position spring pad at top on body. Bring axle together.

Note: In the "rough road package" version, the top spring pad (1) is 14.5 mm thick.

Caution: The spring pads (1 and 2) must be positively seated in the body and the control arm! Otherwise there is a risk that the coil spring will jump out of the centering mount.
