SUBJECT

Airbag Warning Lamp for 0C3 Seat Mat Fault

E53 (X5), E60, E61 (5 Series), E63, E64 (6 Series), E65, E66 (7 Series), E83 (X3), E85 (Z4), E90 (3 Series)

Vehicles produced up to 11/2005

SITUATION

The customer complains that the Airbag Warning Lamp (AWL) illuminates, together with the Passenger Airbag Status Lamp (POL). The problem may be intermittent.

Depending on the vehicle concerned, one of the following 0C3 seat mat faults is stored in the SRS Control Module/Satellite - 95B8, 71, 93C3, 97E0.

CAUSE

Micro-cracks in the 0C3 seat mat.

CORRECTION

On a customer complaint basis only:

^ Follow DIS test plan

^ If no other faults are found, replace the 0C3 seat mat.





The label on the electronic module attached to the 0C3 seat mat shows the production date in dd/mm/yy format. The improved mats were introduced at the dates shown.

NOTE:
To avoid the possibility of a pre-load condition on the assembled part, be sure to follow the repair instructions. The 0C3 mat will not enable if there is pre-load.
