Mirror Adjustment, Passenger's Side

Mirror Functions

Mirror Memory Functions
All mirror functions are controlled by the two mirror memory control modules, i.e. driver's door and front passenger's door (SPM-FT, SPM-BT), the memory-mirror switch and the seat memory. The communication between the SPM-FT (driver's door), SPM-BT (passenger's door) and seat memory is via the K-bus.

Functions:
- Mirror Adjustment
- Memory
- Heating
- Folding In

Mirror Adjustment
The outside mirrors are both adjusted horizontally and vertically by means of a twin-motor drive. Activation is controlled by the mirror switch and evaluated by the SPM-FT. Control of each of the outside mirrors takes place in the relevant SPM-FT or SPM-BT. The mirror position is recorded by potentiometers that are fitted to the mirror drive.

Mirror Memory
The SPM-FT and SPM-BT contain the control for the mirror memory. The mirror position is stored in the seat memory control module. The mirror and seat positions are stored as of terminal R. After pressing, the memory button lights for max. 10 seconds. If one of the memory buttons (1, 2 or 3) is pressed during this time, the current positions are stored in the selected memory slot. A memory position can be called up as of terminal 30. The SPM-FT, SPM-BT enables not only the mirror adjustment function but also the movement to a mirror position that has been previously stored on one of the three buttons in the seat memory. The SPM-FT, SPM-BT also enables automatic movement to the positions stored in the vehicle keys.

Folding Out Mirrors
The fold-out of the mirrors is controlled via the reverse signal (K-bus) by SPM-BT. If reverse gear is selected when terminal 15 is active, the mirror on the passenger side adjusts itself downwards after 1 second to the preset position. The mirror fold-out is only enabled when the right/left switch of the mirror switch is at the driver position. The mirror fold-out is disabled as soon as the trailer signal is activated at the K-bus.

Mirror Heating
The mirror heating is controlled by the SPM-FT and SPM-BT in the doors. The heating is active as of terminal 15.

The relevant SPM switches the mirror heating off when there is undervoltage. Switch off at 10.8V and switch on again at 11.6V.

Folding In Mirrors
The electric motor drive is used to fold in the outside mirrors (special option) in the opposite direction of driving. Pressing one of the buttons in the mirror switch folds in or folds out both outside mirrors.

If the mirror head has been mechanically separated from the drive (effect of force from outside), pressing once engages the mirror in its position. In this case, the mirrors are activated for a maximum of 15 seconds. If the mirror was folded out before the mechanical disengagement, the mirror can be folded out again (after engagement) by pressing the button once again.

At speeds of over 30 kph, fold-in is locked. Fold-out is always possible.

In order to avoid thermal overloading of the fold-in drives, a repeat lockout takes effect for three minutes after 6 operating attempts.

Front Passenger's Seat Coding
To ensure the K-bus can differentiate between the SPM-FT and the SPM-BT, the front passenger coding input is applied to ground or left open via the seat wiring harness.
- Pin 8 connected to ground - control module is driver
- Pin 8 is open - control module is passenger
