Battery

IMPORTANT: Observe all warnings and information provided by manufacturers on precautions for handling batteries. Exhausted batteries are already damaged after 3 days.

Batteries with cell plugs
The cell plugs facilitate access to the battery cells for measuring the level and acid density.

Measuring acid density
Observe the following notes when measuring the acid density:
- The acid density can only be measured when the acid level is above the minimum mark.
- If the acid level needs to be topped up, the battery cells must be topped up and the battery charged before measurement. The acid density can be measured again 6 hours after charging.
- The maximum permissible tolerance between the highest and lowest density of a cell must not exceed 0.03 kg/l.
- The battery must be recharged if a density less than 1.25 kg/l is measured.

NOTES: Observe deviations in acid density in hot regions, refer to specifications of the battery manufacturer.

The closed-circuit voltage of a battery is calculated from:
- (Acid density + 0.84) x 6 = Rest voltage

Battery with magic eye status indicator
The battery cells are sealed. It is not possible to measure the acid level or density. A charge status indicator is installed for this purpose.

Important note concerning status indicator
After the battery has been charged, it should be used more often in order to remove deposits on the status indicator and to prevent incorrect indications (shake and turn upside down).

The battery must be checked using the charge status indicator which uses 3 different colors to indicate the condition of the battery:
- GREEN: The battery charge is > 65%, the acid level is OK.
- BLACK: The battery charge is < 65%, the acid level is OK. The battery should be recharged.
- YELLOW: The acid level in the cells is below the permissible mark. The battery must be renewed.
