Replacing Reinforcement (Cruciform)


Caution!
Reinstall reinforcement!
Driving without the reinforcement fitted is not permitted!





If applicable, unscrew and remove splash guard.
Unscrew bolts (11...2).
Remove reinforcement.

Installation:





If 66 mm dia. control arm rubber mounts are fitted, a washer (S) must be fitted at each screw (1) between reinforcement (3) and engine carrier (4).
The reinforcement must not rest against the control arm rubber mount or control arm bracket.
Front end reinforcement on front axle carrier/engine carrier
Jointing Torque 59 Nm
Torque Angle 90°
Note: Replace screws, tighten down the rear screws first.

Caution!
If necessary, bend heat shield away from reinforcement.

Diesel engines:
Rework (cut) underhood shield at rear left so that there is access to reinforcement. The underhood shield would otherwise be heavily distorted and thereby become loose during driving.
